How it's worked out

Everything below is for the employer picked on the Settings tab. Rates step on the agreement's own dates and the calculator uses the column in force for the week you're looking at. Hours are the hours you're paid for, not counting an unpaid lunch.

  • Filling in as foreman: set that day's role under the date. Each day's hours are paid at that day's rate; overtime follows the same day rules.
  • Holidays are built in for your agreement and moved to the day they're observed. Untick Hol. to switch one off, or tick it for a day your job observes instead.
  • Social Security and Medicare (2026): Social Security 6.2% on the first $184,500 an employer pays you in the year; Medicare 1.45%, plus 0.9% on what this employer pays you over $200,000 in the year. The log counts them up week by week, separately for each employer.
  • Income tax follows the 2026 payroll methods the way payroll does: federal from IRS Publication 15-T (the percentage method on the W-4 you gave the employer: the week's taxable pay times 52, the W-4's amounts taken off, the year's tax divided by 52), and your state's own 2026 method on its withholding form. Union dues, assessments and vacation that goes to a fund come off after tax. Real checks usually land within a few dollars.
  • Per diem and allowances: a per diem paid as a reimbursement for working away from home is normally tax-free and isn't wages, so it gets no vacation and no dues; tick "This employer pays a per diem" on the Settings tab and new days you log will have it on. A flat allowance paid to everyone by the day, like a transportation allowance, is taxable wages, and the app adds it to taxable pay.

Not included yet: other US locals (more are coming), the Local 12A and Local 207 abatement agreements, the National Maintenance Agreement and the other national agreements, triple time (Labor Day shows at double time), foreman and apprentice rates a local doesn't publish (use Enter my own rate), minimum pay and reporting time (enter the hours you're paid), withholding on bonuses and other supplemental pay, work in two states in one week, reciprocity between states, and city, county or school district income tax unless you add it on the Settings tab (New York City residents add the city tax there; Indiana's county tax is in the state settings). Where a rule can't be followed exactly yet, or a local doesn't publish it, the agreement's notes above say so under Approximation. Employer pension, annuity and health and welfare contributions aren't on your paycheck; where the pension rate is published, it's shown as a memo line under the paycheck and on the Year tab.

Yours missing? Send it from the Settings tab (Send us your agreement). If the app doesn't have it yet, you get a free year when it's added.

Privacy

Your hours, pay, employers and settings stay on this phone. There's no account and no sign-in, and we never see your log.

What we do receive:

  • When you open the app: an anonymous count. It includes a random number your phone makes up, the phone type, your state, which poster, QR code, key card or link brought you here (for a key card, the last six characters of its key; for a friend's share link, their share code), whether it was opened inside Facebook's or Instagram's browser, and whether the page was on screen. It doesn't include your name or email.
  • When you pass the app on: the Share and Copy link buttons and the QR code under Get it on your phone carry a share code that belongs to your phone. It lets us count how many people arrive by your link and install the app, and it gives you a free month for every friend who buys a license through it, up to a year. The code is worked out from a private half that stays on your phone; once a day the app sends that private half to ask how many of your friends have bought. It's a different number from the usage count above, and it doesn't tell us who you are.
  • If you buy a key: your email, passed to us by Stripe and kept with your key so we can find it if you lose it. Stripe handles your card, and we never see the number.
  • When you turn on a key: your phone's random number, so one key works on up to three phones.
  • If you send an agreement: the files, the local and agreement you typed, your email if you give it, and your phone's share code so a free year can reach it. The files are only read to add the agreement to the app, then deleted.
  • If you use the feedback box: your message, your email if you give it, the agreement, job class and state you had selected, your phone's browser type, and the same random number as the usage count.

We don't sell or share any of it, and there are no ads or tracking scripts. The site is hosted by Cloudflare and payments go through Stripe. They see what any web host or card processor sees.

To see or delete what we hold about you, send a note through the feedback box with your key or email.
